Stanton West is an award-winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, playwright, puppeteer, and world traveling troubadour from Wisconsin.

​He is frequently featured on the National Public Radio show Simply Folk. In 2015 he co-starred in a film about jug band music with Charlie Parr and Garrison Keillor. He has won many songwriting awards including the Roots & Bluegrass Festival, KVAMA, and Great River Folk Festival Contests where he now sits on a panel as a contest judge.

Stanton has shared the stage with songwriting greats Greg Brown, Trampled by Turtles, Chris Thile, Los Lobos, Dead Horses, Todd Snider, and hundreds more. His songwriting has been compared to John Hartford, Roger Miller, Harry Nilsson, Lyle Lovett, and John Prine.  

Stanton host's a video blog of Songwriter Interviews where he asks professional songwriters to share their secrets to writing compelling songs. He has helped hundreds of songwriters find their voice as a songwriting instructor for the Driftless Folk School, WEGA Arts, Tomorrow Rivers School, Midwest Music Fest and more. He is a founding board member of the Wisconsin Roots Music Cooperative.
